The instrument is built on a heavy cast iron base fitted with three leveling screws, ensuring maximum stability and accurate alignment during measurements. The top surface is precision machined and supports a gun metal horizontal carriage that slides smoothly for precise positioning.

The horizontal slide can be securely locked at any position using a clamping screw, while fine adjustments for exact readings are achieved using a micrometer screw mechanism, enabling highly accurate measurements.

A vertical slide operating in a similar manner is mounted on the horizontal carriage, providing precise movement in both horizontal and vertical directions.
